How Does it Work?
How do I get my battery rebuilt?
Step 1. Select E-Bike battery model
How do I place an order?
During the first step you search for your battery brand in the battery rebuild section. After you have clicked on the brand, all batteries that are eligible for rebuild are automatically displayed.
When you have found the battery in the overview, click on the product to proceed to the order page. Here you have the option to choose what the new capacity of your worn battery should be.
Click on 'Add to Cart' if you are satisfied with the chosen capacity. This will take you to the Shopping Cart page where you can edit your order, calculate shipping and apply coupons. Click Proceed to Checkout, fill in your contact details, then your order can be finalized by clicking on 'Checkout'. You will then receive detailed shipping instructions by a blue colored link in the Order Confirmation Email
I can't find my battery, can you still rebuild it?
Even if your battery cannot be found in the product page, it is possible that we can simply recondition the battery. Because a wide variety of eBikes are sold in the U.S, there is a chance that your specific model is not yet included. We can often tell you more about the options for your specific battery within one working day if you fill in the Intake Form.
To which address should my battery be shipped?
You will receive the detailed shipping instructions including contact details for our repair center after placing an order. Click on the blue colored link, follow the instructions and print out the lithium battery shipping label.
You will need to create your own ground shipping label as we don't know the weight and dimensions of your package. Simply create one online through UPS, FedEx website or take it to one of their stores.
Do you also need my charger or keys?
In most cases, in order to successfully test your battery, we also need your charger. Some batteries are equipped with an ignition switch to switch the battery on / off. In that case we also ask you to send the ignition keys, so that the battery can be tested properly.
Can I also bring my battery?
If you are local, It is possible to hand in your battery at our repair center. We can then advise you and help you place an order.
Why haven't I received an email?
Normally, after placing an order, you will receive an Order Confirmation Email with a blue colored link to the shipping instructions. If you have not received confirmation after placing the order, the payment may not have been successful.
It is also possible that you made a typo when entering the email address, but in most cases the emails ended up in your 'spam' or 'unwanted' mailbox. If no emails can be found in that box either, please contact us so that we can solve the problem for you.
Step 2. Battery is tested and rebuilt at our repair center
What happens after my battery arrives at the repair center?
When the package has arrived at our repair center, the battery initially undergoes a short 'pre-test'. If it turns out that the poor battery performance is due to wear of the energy cells, our repairers will proceed to overhaul.
The old energy cells are removed from the housing and replaced with grade-A energy cells from Samsung. The housing and usually also the electronics (the Battery Management System) of your old bicycle battery are reused. With a number of batteries, the electronic part of the battery is also replaced as standard. After the repair has been completed, a rigorous final test checks whether the battery can deliver the specified capacity.
Can you determine in advance whether my battery can be rebuilt?
If your battery can be found in the product page, we can usually repair your battery without any problems. Most of the batteries on the website have already been successfully rebuilt by our technicians.
However, sometimes during the repair it becomes apparent that the battery is no longer functioning due to an electronic defect in the circuit board (for example due to water or fall damage). Replacing the battery will not solve the problem.
If your battery is no longer working, it is best to contact us in advance, so that we try to determine remotely whether a rebuild is still possible.
How long will I lose my battery if I send it in for rebuild?
For every order, Hi-C Battery uses a so-called 'lead time': the time required for testing, rebuilding and returning your bicycle battery. This time is variable, depending on the activity and subject to complications during the repair.
You can find the current lead time for our services in the specifications on the order page of your battery. At this moment the turnaround time is 14 working days (this is an indication of the repair time, and is only an estimate).
Will I be notified when my battery is ready?
When your rebuild has been successfully completed, you will receive a notification by email, so that you know when the battery will be returned. In addition, this email contains a tracking code for tracking the return shipment. If you have indicated that you want to pick up your battery from our repair center, we will contact you by email when the battery is ready.
Step 3. Refurbished battery will be returned
Am I entitled to a warranty if I have my battery rebuilt?
Yes, you are entitled to a 12-month warranty from the original invoice date. Warranty applies only to the reconditioned cell insert and not to the electronic circuit (BMS). With some batteries we also replace the electronic part and in that case the BMS is covered by the warranty.
A defect in the cell insert will be repaired free of charge within the warranty period. Drop and / or water damage are not covered by the warranty. Leaving your battery in a deeply discharged state can cause damage and is not covered under warranty. Warranty
Hi-C Battery guarantees that the nominal capacity of the chemical battery corresponds to the ordered capacity. No guarantee is given for a specific cycling distance that can be achieved with the reconditioned battery. The range depends on many factors, which makes it impossible to guarantee a specific distance.
How do I use my battery after rebuild?
After the repair has been successfully completed, you will receive instructions from us by e-mail on how to re-use the reconditioned battery. It is important that you follow these instructions to bring the battery to its maximum capacity as soon as possible. The first time you start cycling with the reconditioned battery, the battery is not yet at its maximum capacity.
What is the lifespan of my reconditioned battery?
The energy cells that are placed in the housing are completely new and, if used correctly, have an average life span around 5 years. A capacity loss of 10-15% per year is normal for lithium-ion batteries. Since the cells are subject to wear, they can lose capacity more quickly with intensive use. To extend the life of the battery, we recommend that you read our instructions carefully.
Will the display and LED indicators on my battery still work after rebuilt?
In most cases, the LED indication on your battery and on the display will continue to work. However, especially if you are using the reconditioned battery for the first time, your display may not accurately show the current residual charge. We advise not to attach too much importance to the indication on your display, especially in the beginning, but instead to start from the number of miles that you would normally cycle.
From a quality and safety point of view, we only use grade-A energy cells from Samsung. If your battery was originally equipped with other (smaller) cells, it may be that the current residual charge no longer exactly matches the value that you see on the display. With many batteries, the residual charge is displayed with 'blocks' or LEDs and usually this indication becomes more accurate as the battery goes through more charge cycles.
In some cases the display will not show accurate residual charge even after several charge cycles, especially when the original capacity has been significantly increased. In that case, the computer in the battery still measures the old energy values. You will then have to determine yourself how many miles can be ridden with a certain battery percentage before you lose assist.
